We Started
Founded in 1947 by Leonard Vaupell, our journey began with plastic casters for U.S. Army file cabinets. Just a year later, we delivered our first aerospace parts to Boeing, launching a legacy in engineered plastics and precision manufacturing.
Over the decades, Vaupell built a reputation for quality, innovation, and reliability—enabling us to focus our growth on the aerospace industry while expanding into strategic adjacent markets and strengthening our name as a trusted brand.

In the 2000s, Vaupell played a key role in the development of a new aircraft generation. We are proud of our contribution as a Tier 1 and Tier 2 partner and a significant Cabin as well as Aerostructure Work share on both those successful twin aisle platforms and continue to drive progress with our customers.

In 2014, Vaupell became part of Sumitomo Bakelite, Ltd., a global leader in high-performance plastic and resin materials that places prime importance on contributing to societal progress and people’s welfare through its business activities. With the new ownership, Vaupell expanded its global reach and access to advanced material technologies, enhancing its capabilities across the aerospace, defense, and medical markets. The integration marked a significant step in strengthening Vaupell’s foundation for long-term growth and innovation.

Expanded to Cargo Lining business with A350F Main Deck Cargo Lining contract award.

Expanded into the Soldier Systems market, offering near-net molding and machining for next-generation night vision devices.

Entered Airbus as a Tier 1 supplier for the SA Aerospace cabin and established Vaupell Europe.

Consolidated operations to create the Michigan Medical Center of Excellence.
